AeroVironment’s LOCUST system (Laser Optimized Counter-Uncrewed Aerial System Technology), which utilizes Advanced EO’s precision Night Hawk HD Positioner, was featured in the March 15, 2026 episode of 60 Minutes. The “Laser Focus” segment showcased the high-tech, AI-powered LOCUST system, designed to defeat aerial threats at the speed of light – combating cheap drones with cost-effective, precise energy rather than expensive missiles.

60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl visited AV’s Albuquerque, NM facility to participate in a controlled demonstration of the high-energy laser weapon system detecting, tracking, and neutralizing a drone target.
